Summer is winding down, and for many people, that means the end of vacation time. But there’s still time to make a difference in your community before school starts!

On National Nonprofit Day (Aug. 17), everyone is encouraged to volunteer their time and resources to help those in need. Here are some tips on how you can make a difference before the school year begins.

Clean Up a Local Park, Lake or River

Every year, millions of tons of trash end up in our oceans, lakes and rivers. This litter not only harms the environment but also poses a threat to public health.

Fortunately, there are many ways to make a difference. This August, why not take part in a local cleanup event? Cleaning up your local park, lake or river is a great way to help protect the environment and promote public health.

You’ll also be helping to create a cleaner and more enjoyable space for your community. So grab some gloves and garbage bags and head to your local park or waterway this month!

    Raise Charity Fund for Firefighters

Firefighting is a high-risk job with a high probability of injury and sacrifice. Firefighters always fight heroically to defend people’s homes wherever they are needed. They are the guardians of our lives and protect people’s safety. Firefighters will be injured or even die in the rescue work, which will undoubtedly bring heavy blows to the families of firefighters, both mentally and financially. Therefore, during the non-profit day, you can organize charity activities to raise money for the firefighters. And then, the firefighter challenge coins express people’s affirmation and gratitude for the work of firefighters, it is also a kind of awe and respect for the sacrifice of firefighters. The firefighter challenge coins can be used for raising charity funds for firefighters who are injured on duty, which can cover the fees of the treatment and recovery of firefighters, as well as the financial support for the families of firefighters who have died heroically to relieve the pressures of their lives, which is extremely meaningful. Charity fundraising activities can be initiated through customized or sponsored Firefighter Challenge Coins. I think everyone will be willing to contribute and support the charity activities.

Lead a Donation Drive for the Local Animal Shelter

Animal shelters rely on donations to provide food, shelter, and veterinary care for the animals in their care. This summer, before school starts up again, why not make a difference in your community by collecting donations for a local animal shelter?

By organizing a donation drive, you can help to make sure that the animals in your community have the resources they need to thrive. In addition to collecting donations from your friends and family, you can also hold fundraisers to generate additional support for the shelter. And who knows? You might even find your new best friend in the process!

Volunteer at the Food Bank or Deliver Meals

August is a great time to get involved in your community by volunteering your time. One way to do this is by visiting your local food bank. Many food banks rely on donations from the public to help stock their shelves, and the months leading up to school can be particularly busy.

By spending a few hours sorting and packing food, you can make a real difference in the lives of others. In addition, volunteering at a food bank is a great way to meet new people and learn about different organizations in your community.

You can also help relieve the regular Meals on Wheels drivers so they get a little vacation time, too. Make sure you have the right car insurance before you start driving around, delivering meals. Check out Freeway Car Insurance for some great rates, even if your driving record is less than perfect.

So before the chaos of school starts up again, take some time to give back by volunteering at your local food bank or bringing meals to the housebound.

Take the Time to Make a Difference

Summer is about fun in the sun, but it’s also a great time to make a difference. If you’re looking for a way to make this summer count and give back at the same time, the ideas above can give you a great start.

Don’t put it off — take some time this August to end the summer with a bang!
